“Students, our next assignment in Social Studies is to compare and contrast the actions of our own two beloved Political Johns.”

Here is Johnny's (a junior at Carrboro High) response to the latest assignment.

“Well, as all concerned citizens know, some capitalist pig developers are going to run all of the Latino folk out of the Buckhorn Road Flea market and build an evil mall with evil stores like Wal Mart and other nefarious profit driven companies”

“The most shocking thing about this is that the long time supporter of the Latino community, Mr. John Herrera of the Carrboro BOA, has been entirely silent in the press. Que pasa?”

“In a similarly puzzling display, Mr. John Edwards, Orange County's own resident presidential hopeful and creator of the “two americas” concept, has not said one word in public about the plight of the Rogers-Eubanks folks, who are threatened with yet another landfill expansion at the hands of the “We have tried so hard, but there is nothing we can do” latte-sipping trust-fund having non profit working BOCC. Apparently, Mr. Edwards must consider the Rogers-Eubanks areas as a “number two” American neighborhood.”
