On WRAL this morning Purdue Energy Plan Gubernatorial hopeful Beverly Perdue announces a goal to stop building coal plants in NC by cutting energy consumption by 50% in NC, through “efficiencies”. Of course, Ms. Perdue does not offer any actual data to support the feasibility of this goal, no references to alternatives to be used, nor does she say whether it will be 50% of today's energy or 50% of energy at some future date.
It is so sad that we are only getting more empty words from our leaders. Of course, this looks like an attempt to get the eco-poser vote, since it is stated that coal fired plants need to be stopped- an obvious regurgitation of “eco homey-I hate nukes even though I don't know anything about them-incapable of supplying alternatives- the sky is falling” Jim Warren of NC WARN.
Welcome to the facts optional world of State Politics. No discussion of what would actually be done to reduce energy consumption, just vague reference to a “goal”. No additional detail is offered on her website, of course, just more of the same empty words.
Maybe we can reduce our energy usage by removing power to the State Capital, all government offices, and all politicians' homes. They can go live in mud huts, I am sure there is a carnival hand somewhere that can help them plan a walkable community with huts in it.
