A Carnival Hand Is Planning Northern Carrboro

I read with great interest the article in the latest Carrboro Citizen, from our supposed planning guru, Mr. James Carnahan. He needs to spend more time riding around the area he is planning. There are many questions raised by his little “happy letter”

For example:

1. Where are you going to build “walkable commercial” space in Lake Hogan Farms, Sinmore, etc? It would be too far to walk to a store from these neighborhoods. You have planned yourself into a hole by allowing these developments in the first place.

2. Where are you going to run buses in this area? Is there going to be a need for public transportation? Where is the study to back this?

3. Have you actually talked to anyone who might want to have a business in the area? Where are the numbers to support a claim that “corner stores” are wanted? Where are the numbers to support a claim that they have a viable clientele?

I could go on and on, but the bottom line is if you cut out all of his doublespeak talk about walkability, affordability and high performance green (which run in opposition to each other, not that he would know) he really isn't saying anything, other than notifying us that his developer buddies are going to rape the rest of the NTA. Surprise!!! Surprise!!!

I wish he would leave the NTA alone and plan the revitalization of downtown, they need some more “corner stores”.

Hey Carnahan, I got your high performance green RIGHT HERE!! Burn baby burn!
