Wow, a local couple wants to buy "only local" food........ In concept, this appears to be a noble cause. Save the planet (which one? Saturn? Uranus?) etc. by buying locally and reducing the environmental impact of food production. Unfortunately, in spite of what the N and O 1/9/08 article says, and what the local couple wishes to do, buying locally is not necessarily more "eco". I challenged the reporter but didn't get much more than a "huh?" for a reply. Don't think she got it. Check this out, if you are into the facts: http://www.lincoln.ac.nz/story21175.html Of course in a "facts optional" world such as exists within the carbonaceous circle of Weaver Street, it is more about feeling good about oneself, and giving oneself a "moral high-five" than actually making a difference. Sorry, folks, you can buy local all you want, you are not doing anything for the planet. Game over, the poser exposer has struck again! Whew, I just heated that one to 400F and baked for 2 hours......time to switch off the burner....maybe I should leave the pilot lit just in case! {{fp:smoky_burn_out.jpg|}}
